Fridays in a Cave
Friday, May 7, 2010 at 11:40AM I haven't written in over nine months. Felt like a quick poem to start things off again...
Fridays in a Cave
Paradise of transient life and wind-strewn stubble
A mighty wall of iron to be reduced to rubble
Wisdom, purpose, intent revealed in time
As three or five or seven in cavern lie
A ship well-made would have a king’s eye
The pride of pious souls who was meant to die
Treasures buried shallow beneath a crumbling wall
Buttressed for greedy diners who didn’t share at all
I spend my Fridays in a cave, in a cave
I spend my Fridays in a cave
Waves of human flesh ebb and surge
As a reminder to suppress every haughty urge
Oceans of water give ink to writing trees
Signs in abundance to bring us to our knees
I spend my Fridays in a cave, in a cave
I spend my Fridays in a cave
Darkness, blindness, impatience, pretention
Iblis, The Gardener, Us without Comprehension
Patient, Courageous, Valiant, Incandescent
The Sleepers, The Poor Man, Two-Horned, The Servant
Be Patient, Think Long, Be Not Contentious
Be Humble, Be Strong, Remain Unpretentious
The Biggest, the Worst, the Ultimate, Losers
In jest whittled days as free will abusers
I spend my Fridays in a cave, in a cave
I spend my Fridays in a cave
Adjusting thinking that tends to deprave
Shunning vanity that tends to enslave
Spending my Fridays in cave, in a cave
Until that tombstone is pitched on my grave
